Summer Craft | Plant Pot Watering Can Easy Decoupage


This easy decoupage crafting video shows how to decorate plant pots or a watering can, using a few simple materials: paper napkins, PVA glue or mod podge and a crafting technique called decoupage. This is a fun, easy creative craft project suitable for all ages, children, teens and adults. A fun garden themed crafty project!

You can apply this paper and glue crafting technique, also known as decoupage, to lots of projects. Basically, any item glue will stick to can be decorated with paper (glass jars, tin cans, plant pots, wood items, etc).

Materials needed for this project include:

Metal plant pot or watering can (clean with no rust).

Glue such as PVA glue, Elmer's, or basic non-toxic glue.

Optional: mod podge can be used instead of PVA glue.

Small paint brush, to apply glue.

Scissors to cut napkin pieces.

1 ply napkin (simply separate napkin at edge to separate).

Water to clean paintbrush.

Varnish is essential for this project! If leaving outside, please apply a clear, non-yellowing varnish to protect your project, suitable for metal & exterior use. This is important to protect your work!

Only a few materials needed to make this project. This simple crafting video introduces how to decoupage on metal for home interior decor, or for the garden.

After decorating your piece, seal with a clear outdoor varnish - this will protect your paper napkin decoupage from coming off!

This is a great weekend crafting project! A great craft at home project to stay safe. A good project for any time of the year, and for all ages or abilities. Young children should be supervised.

Tips: Speciality decoupage paper is available in shops and online, however, you can use napkins and save money. Mod podge is a great glue to use, however, you can use PVA glue for decoupage projects and save money. To protect your piece, use a suitable wood/metal clear (non-yellowing) varnish. And a varnish for exterior use if leaving outside. Mod podge also make a product for exterior projects.

No watering can? Use a tin can instead, which can be painted first.

Napkins: Use 1-ply napkins - most napkins are 2-ply or 3-ply. To separate, pull apart at the corners, to make a 1-ply napkin for this project. Cut decorations our of the napkin to apply to your project. You don't need to paint your item beforehand, but you can if you want and let dry fully – painting the item is optional.
